Design & Fit-Out Overview Milas Restaurant
The restaurant design creates a modern, sophisticated, and warm atmosphere, balancing sleek, contemporary elements with rich, natural textures. It successfully establishes a high-end, inviting dining experience, often found in premier locations like a mall.
Key Design Elements & Materials
- Wood Paneling: This is the most dominant and defining feature. The use of horizontal slatted or ribbed wood paneling in a warm, medium-brown tone is central to the design. This material provides warmth, texture, and a sense of natural elegance. (See all dining area photos: 052.jpg, 053.jpg).
- High-Gloss Black Surfaces: These are used extensively on vertical pillars, the entryway façade, and the floor finish in some areas. The reflective, mirror-like black finish provides a dramatic, luxurious contrast to the wood, adding a modern, sharp edge. (See 053.jpg, 054.jpg).
- Metal Accents: Gold-toned or brass-finish metal is used sparingly but effectively, notably for the “Milas” branding sign and as a trim for the wood-lined niche (057.jpg). This introduces a touch of luxury and refinement.
- Lighting: The main lighting feature is a series of black, industrial-style pendant lamps with bell or dome shades. These create focused light over the dining tables, adding a modern aesthetic and establishing an intimate ambiance. Accent lighting includes warm, recessed spotlights over the wood walls.
- Furniture: The seating consists of wooden dining chairs with a natural or light-stain finish and dark/charcoal grey upholstered seats. The tables match the wood tone of the chairs. There’s also a long, cream or off-white banquette seating area against the wood wall, providing a softer, continuous element.
- Bar/Service Area: The counter uses the same warm, horizontal wood paneling, maintaining consistency. (See 059.jpg).
🎨 Color Palette
The overall palette is Monochromatic and Neutral, relying on texture for depth:
| Color | Material Association | Role in Design |
| Warm Brown/Mahogany | Wood Walls, Furniture, Bar | Primary color, providing warmth, nature, and coziness. |
| High-Gloss Black | Pillars, Floor, Lighting | Secondary color, providing modernity, contrast, and luxury. |
| Cream/Off-White | Ceiling, Banquette Seating, Tableware | Tertiary color, providing brightness and clean contrast. |
| Gold/Brass | Signage, Trim | Accent color, providing a touch of sophistication and high-end feel. |
| Charcoal Grey/Blue | Chair Upholstery | Subtly deep tone, grounding the furniture. |
🛠 Fit-Out Work & Execution
The execution emphasizes precision and high-quality finish to achieve the luxury feel:
- Seamless Finishes: The high-gloss black panels and wood paneling require precise installation to look continuous and seamless, especially where they meet.
- Built-in Elements: The lighting, the recessed wood niche (057.jpg), and the bar counter appear custom-built, requiring detailed joinery and electrical planning.
- Lighting Design: Achieving the dramatic contrast between the brightly lit wood/tables and the dark, reflective surrounding areas requires careful placement and focusing of the spotlights and pendants.
- Entrance: The prominent signage and glass/black paneling at the entrance (054.jpg) is critical for high visibility and brand impact within the mall environment.
